TRIBUTE PAID TO SHRI SHEFEEN AHAMED IPS OFFICER

officer Shefeen Ahamed K., 50, who hailed from Keralam, on Monday (August 31,
2026) died in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram where he was undergoing
treatment for cancer.He was serving as Inspector General of Police, CID Crime Branch
and Cybercrime, Odisha. He also served as the District Police Chief,
Thiruvananthapuram Police, and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Armed Police
Battalion, with the Keralam Police on deputation until nearly a decade ago.
A member of the 2003-IPS
batch, Mr. Ahamed hailed from Oachira in Kollam. He had completed his
graduation in Civil Engineering at the TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, and
Master’s degree in Police Leadership and Management at Osmania University.His
mortal remains, which have been kept at his residence in Vattiyurkavu, will be
taken to his native place on Tuesday. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan condoled
his death and described Mr. Ahamed as an officer with an excellent service
record. He said Mr. Ahamed had demonstrated his professional commitment and
capabilities during his tenure in Keralam.Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan
also conveyed his condolences as he recalled Mr. Ahamed’s commendable service
during his tenure in Keralam.Recalling his close personal association with the
late officer, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said Mr. Ahamed had headed the
Thiruvananthapuram Rural Police during his first tenure as the Home Minister.Mr.
Chennithala also rememberedMr. Ahamed’s father, K.O. Habeeb, a senior leader of
Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), with whom he shared a close
relationship.
