India observes National Engineers' Day on September 15 every year to mark the birth anniversary of the eminent engineer and statesman, Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.National Engineers’ Day 2026 is being celebrated across India on September 15 to honour the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the country’s most celebrated engineers and statesmen. Also popularly known as Sir MV, Visvesvaraya made significant contributions to irrigation, water management, flood protection and engineering infrastructure in India.

The occasion also recognises the contribution of engineers across different fields who continue to play an important role in the country’s technological development and infrastructure. From civil engineering and construction to technology, manufacturing and innovation, engineers are instrumental in turning ideas into practical solutions.
