NATIONAL MARITIME DAY
IN
INDIA-2023--APRIL -5.
EVERY
year, April 05 is observed as ‘National Maritime Day’ throughout the country.
It is a special day that is celebrated to commemorate India's first merchant
sea voyage in the trading world. The year marks the 60th National Maritime Day
and it is observed with great joy and pride in the country.
During
the celebrations on this day, the "NMD Award of Excellence" is
usually given to recognise and honour individuals for their lifetime
distinguished and exceptional achievements in the Indian maritime sector at a
senior level.
In
India's navigation, a history was created when SS Loyalty, the first ship of
The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd journeyed to the United Kingdom. It is
one of the oldest industries in the world which carries loads from one part of
the world to other extreme part.
Maritime
is an ecological and easiest way to move heavy goods from one place to another
across the world.
This
special day is observed yearly by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and
Waterways every year. It is celebrated with the aim to show gratitude to the
brave men who spend several months in the sea, carrying out the bulk of India’s
trade and commerce at a global level. The theme for National Maritime Week 2023
is 'Amrit Kaal in Shipping'.
