SHOCKING VIOLENCE ERUPTS IN PAKISTAN

Pakisthani police faced furious street battles with religious hard-line activists as they tried to clear roads in Islamabad.Activists threw stones at law enforcement as police officers tried to clear a religious sit-in that has blocked the main roads into the city for the past two weeks.About 4,000 police officers were sent in to Islamabad to try and disperse around 1,000 protesters and break up their camp outside the city.Images shown on Pakistani TV showed a police vehicle go up in flames, heavy smoke and fires burning in the streets as riot police advanced to break up the protest.

Protesters fought back in street battles across the city and its roads as they bid to keep the capital at a standstill for their cause. Dozens were injured in the bloody clashes, including many police, according to reports from local hospitals.By the end of the day, new demonstrators had joined the sit-in in a stand-off with the law.

Protests also spread to other main cities, where some activists brandished sticks and attacked cars.There are conflicting accounts of a death toll; while protesters claim four of their activists were killed, police say there are no fatalities.Activists from a new hard-line Islamist political party, Tehreek-e-Labaik, have blockaded the main road into Islamabad for two weeks.They are staging a mass sit-in, accusing Pakistan’s justice minister of blasphemy against Islam, and demanding his dismissal and arrest.The minister, Zahid Hamid, is blamed for an electoral law that changed a religious oath proclaiming Mohammad the last prophet of Islam to the words “I believe”.The party believes this is blasphemous.

കലാപത്തിന്റെ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള് സംപ്രേഷണം ചെയ്യുന്നതു മതവികാരങ്ങള് വ്രണപ്പെടുത്തുമെന്നു വിലയിരുത്തിയാണു സ്വകാര്യചാനലുകള്ക്കു താല്കാലിക നിരോധനം കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്. ട്വിറ്ററിനും ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്കിനും താല്കാലിക വിലക്കും ഏര്പ്പെടുത്തി. നാലുപേര് മരിച്ചതായി പ്രതിഷേധക്കാര് പറയുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ഒൗദ്യോഗിക സ്ഥിരീകരണമില്ല.

കലാപം ലഹോറിലേക്കും കറാച്ചിയിലേക്കും വ്യാപിക്കുകയാണ്. ടിയര് ഗ്യാസ് ഷെല്ലുകളും കല്ലുകളും പൊലീസിനുനേരെ വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞാണു കലാപകാരികള് പൊലീസ് നടപടിയെ ചെറുക്കുന്നത്. തെഹ്രികെ ലെബെയ്ക് എന്ന തീവ്ര മത - രാഷ്ട്രീയപാര്ട്ടിയാണു പ്രതിഷേധത്തിനു നേതൃത്വം നല്കുന്നത്. തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ വാചകത്തിലുണ്ടായത് എഴുത്തുപിശക് മാത്രമായിരുന്നുവെന്നു നിയമമന്ത്രി വിശദീകരിച്ചെങ്കിലും പ്രതിഷേധത്തിന് അയവുവന്നില്ല.

നിയമമന്ത്രി സഹീദ് ഹമീദ് രാജിവയ്ക്കണമെന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് ഇൗമാസം ആറിനാണ് ഉപരോധം തുടങ്ങിയത്. നൂറുകണക്കിനു പ്രതിഷേധക്കാര് തെരുവിലിറങ്ങിയതോടെ കലാപം നിയന്ത്രണാതീതമായി. സൈനികസഹായം തേടിയിരിക്കുകയാണു സര്ക്കാര്.
