ONV COMMEMORATION MEET-2017
The first death
anniversary of poet O.N.V. Kurup will be observed under the aegis of the O.N.V.
Prathibha Foundation with a host of programmes at the Tagore Theatre on
February 13.The event, titled ‘Ormakalude Thirumuttathu’, organised in
association with the Public and Relations Department and the Devarajan
Foundation, will get under way with poet-activist Sugathakumari paying her
tributes to the late poet. A poets’ meet that will be held later will feature
Ms. Sugathakumari, Pirappancode Murali, George Onakkoor, V. Madhusoodanan Nair,
Ezhacheri Ramachandran, P.K. Gopi, Manamboor Rajan Babu, Karivalloor Murali,
Gireesh Puliyoor and Vinod Vaishali.
According to
foundation secretary P. Venugopalan, the highlight of the programme will be the
screening of a video compilation of speeches and poems recited by O.N.V. Kurup.
Poet Prabha Varma will formally launch the compilation on the occasion.Later, a
compilation of writings by fifty school students on ONV’s works, christened
‘Kunjumanassile ONV’ will be released by poet Ezhacheri Ramachandran. In
addition, around 50 students of the Sabarigiri School in Anchal will organise a
dance presentation based on ONV’s poem ‘Amma’.Noted writer M. Leelavathy will
deliver the commemorative address during the event. Former Culture Minister
M.A. Baby will present an award for the best poem selected from amongst art
school magazines published in the State.
