URI-SAHAYOG SAMMAN NATIONAL AWARD TO MRS & Mr. MOHAN LAL, KOLLAM

URI-SAHAYOG SAMMAN NATIONAL AWARD TO MRS & Mr. MOHAN LAL, KOLLAM

Mrs.and Mr. Mohan Lal received URI’s Sahayog Samman National Award on 20th November, 2016 at Puri,Orissa. We appreciate the outstanding performance and dedicated service of the  Kollam Zero Limits CC  in cultivating Peace and  interreligious unity and culture. URI –Indian National Assembly  was held at PURI, Odisha, a holy city in EAST India. The whole of Odisha was part of a great empire called Kalinga in the BCs. It was here that the Maurya King Ashoka fought and won the Kalinga war, which changed the whole course of the world.  Having killed millions, Emperor Ashoka realised the futility of war and became a Buddhist who proclaimed ahimsa as his life mission thereafter. He became an ardent missionary for Buddhism and travelled far and near to propagate peace. URI India echoed its plea for world peace here at this historic land.
This year was special as we had representatives from Afghanistan for the first time, in addition to having delegates from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This year the floor was given to the CCs and it was so fascinating to hear reports of the numerous activities in different regions. Of course, there were sessions for energising the life and work of CCs. Sally's presence and leadership was so important. We expressed our thanks to National coordinator Biswadebji, Dr. Abraham Karickom, other cocoordinators, Global Council Trustees and our senior leaders of the United Religions Initiative. We look forward to meeting in Rajasthan next year , when the West Zone will become organisers.
