PRESIDENT RIVLIN IN INDIA ON WEEK-LONG VISIT
അതിര്‍ത്തി ഭേദമില്ലാതെ ലോകത്തിന് മൊത്തം ഭീഷണി ഉയര്‍ത്തുന്നതാണ് ഭീകരവാദമെന്ന് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി.
Israeli
President Reuven Rivlin arrived in New Delhi
on Monday on a week-long state visit -- the first by an Israeli President in
nearly 20 years.Rivlin is here on the invitation of President Pranab Mukherjee.The
Israeli President was welcomed by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and the Israeli
Ambassador Daniel Carmon.The last Israeli President to visit India was Ezer
Weizman. He came in January 1997.President Mukherjee visited Israel in October
2015, symbolizing the growing partnership between the two nations.Rivlin will
hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.Rivlin,
accompanied by a large business delegation, will also visit Agra, Karnal in
Haryana, Chandigarh and Mumbai.In Agra, besides visiting the Taj Mahal, he will
take a look at an adjacent Israeli water treatment plant called “Aqwise”.In
Karnal, Rivlin will visit the Centre of Excellence in Agriculture set up with
Israeli assistance.In Chandigarh, he along with President Mukherjee will
jointly inaugurate Agro Tech 2016 organised by the Confederation of Indian
Industry.
Rivlin will
visit Mumbai on the last day of his India tour on his way back to Israel. He
will attend a commemorative function in memory of the victims of the 26/11
terror attack.
He will
also meet members of the Jewish community in Mumbai.
External
Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Israel in January this year and Union
Home Minister Rajnath Singh in November last year.
In a
reflection of their growing proximity, India and Israel on Tuesday decided to
further “broad-base” their already close defence partnership and intensify
cooperation in combating radicalisation and extremism and called upon global
community to act tough against terror networks and States harbouring them.The
two countries agreed to deepen their cooperation in a variety of areas, including
trade and investment, agriculture, water resources and cyber crime, during
extensive talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israel President
Reuven Rivlin, who is on his first visit to India.The two sides inked two pacts
to strengthen cooperation in agricuture and water resources management.
Giving a
gist of his talks with the Israeli leader, Mr. Modi, in a media statement, said
people of both countries were constantly threatened by forces of terrorism and
extremism and both sides agreed to intensify cooperation in combating them
effectively, particularly having “practical and specific” engagement such as in
the cyber domain.“We recognise that terrorism is a global challenge, knows no
boundaries and has extensive links with other forms of organized crime,” he
said.In an obvious reference to Pakistan, the Prime Minister said,
“Regrettably, one of the countries of its origin and spread is in India’s
neighbourhood.''

ഭീകരസംഘടനകള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയും ഇസ്രായേലും ലക്ഷ്യം വെക്കുന്നത് ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ സ്വാതന്ത്രത്തിന് വില കല്‍പിക്കുന്നതിനാലാണെന്ന് ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് റുവല്‍ റിവല്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. ഇന്ത്യക്കും ഇസ്രായേലിനും ഇടയില്‍ സഹകരിക്കാന്‍ പറ്റുന്ന ധാരാളം മേഖലകളുണ്ടെന്നും ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.
ധാരാളം ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ പഠനത്തിനായി ഇസ്രായേലില്‍ പോകുന്നു, അവര്‍ ഇന്ത്യാഇസ്രായേല്‍ ബന്ധത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട കണ്ണികളാണ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ 25 വര്‍ഷമായി ഇസ്രായേലുമായി നമുക്ക് ഉള്ളത് മികച്ച നയതന്ത്ര ബന്ധമാണ്. ഇനിയും അത് കൂടുതല്‍ മെച്ചപ്പെട്ടതാക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുമെന്നും മോദി പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ മികച്ച ബന്ധം ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളിലേയും സ്വകാര്യമേഖലയിലെ ബിസിനസുകാര്‍ക്ക് മികച്ച അവസരങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കുമെന്നും മോദി കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു.
നേരത്തെ രാജ്ഘട്ടില്‍ ഗാന്ധിസമൃതിയില്‍ പുഷ്പാര്‍ച്ചന നടത്തിയതിന് ശേഷമാണ് റാവ്‌ലിന്‍ മാധ്യമങ്ങളെ കാണാന്‍ എത്തിയത്. 1997 ല്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലെത്തിയ എസര്‍ വെയ്‌സ്മാന് ശേഷം 20 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷമാണ് ഒരു ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ എത്തുന്നത്. ആഗ്ര, ചണ്ഡീഗഡ്, മുബൈ എന്നിവിടങ്ങള്‍ ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കും. വാണിജ്യ വ്യവസായ സംഘവും ഇസ്രായേല്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റിനെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. 2003 ല്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്ന ഏരിയല്‍ ഷാരോണ്‍ ഇന്ത്യ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചിരുന്നു.
