MOTHER TERESA WILL CONTINUE TO INSPIRE MANY MORE- JAYALALITHA

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said the canonization of Mother Teresa will again highlight the work that she has done amongst the poor and downtrodden and those who had no one to turn to.Mother Teresa would be canonized and known as Saint Teresa after the ceremony to be held in the Vatican on September 4.“Her life and work has inspired many and as Saint Teresa, she will continue to inspire many, many more. The spirit of compassion and selfless service to the most unfortunate, the sick, the dying and the destitute will be greatly bolstered through keeping alive the memory of this great soul,” Ms. Jayalalithaa said in a statement.

She also recalled her meeting with Mother Teresa at her residence on January 20, 1994 and termed Mother Teresa’s presence at the State function on the international Women’s Day in 1994 as a “memorable event in my life”.Ms. Jayalalithaa also said she continues to draw sustenance for her own public service from the life and work of Mother Teresa.
