കവേരി നദീജല പ്രശ്‌നം: സുപ്രീംകോടതി ഉത്തരവിനെതിരെ കര്‍ണാടകയില്‍ വ്യാപകപ്രതിഷേധം

Tamil Nadu. The protests forced the state government to pull off 700 buses
headed to Tamil Nadu and Kerala
· At Mandya in southern Karnataka - the
volatile heartland of the Cauvery basin - protesters threw burning tyres on the
highway blocking traffic between Bengaluru and Mysuru.
· Schools and colleges in the district will be
closed for two days, the government said. Entry into the Krishnarajasagar Dam
and the famous Brindavan Gardens in the area has been stopped till Friday,
September 9.
· Buses travelling between Karnataka and Tamil
Nadu were stopped or diverted and a bus was also damaged. The police used mics
to urge people to avoid roads to Mandya. In Tamil Nadu, buses and trucks
heading to Karnataka were stopped at Hosur along the border.
· The Supreme Court yesterday asked Karnataka
to release 15,000 cusecs every day to Tamil Nadu for 10 days. That is nearly
double what Karnataka is releasing currently.
· Tamil Nadu had moved court after Karnataka
released far less water this year than was decided in 2007 by a court-appointed
tribunal.
· Karnataka has offered 10,000 cusecs of water
a day, saying that because of poor rain, its reservoirs don't have enough
water, "not even for drinking".
· Tamil Nadu, with much more farmland to
irrigate, says its farmers can't sow crop if it is not given more water
immediately.
· Last week, the Supreme Court told Karnataka
to "live and let live" and urged both states to "maintain
harmony in the water dispute".
· Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
appealed to protesters for peace and said the state would decide on releasing
more water only after studying the court order.· The water dispute is
over a century old, when Tamil Nadu was Madras Presidency and Karnataka was
Mysore. The fight intensifies when the rainfall is poor and there's not enough
water.
കാവേരി നദീജല പ്രശ്‌നവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് സുപ്രീംകോടതിയുടെ ഇടക്കാല ഉത്തരവ് വന്നതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് കര്‍ണാടകയില്‍ വ്യാപക പ്രതിഷേധം. കാവേരി നദിയില്‍ നിന്ന് 15 ടിഎംസി ജലം പത്ത് ദിവസത്തേക്ക് തമിഴ്‌നാടിന് നല്‍കാനാണ് സുപ്രീം കോടതിയുടെ ഉത്തരവ്.
വിഷയത്തില്‍ ചര്‍ച്ച നടത്തുന്നതിനായി എംഎല്‍എമാരുടെയും എംപിമാരുടെയും യോഗം മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സിദ്ധരാമയ്യ ഇന്ന് വിളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കാവേരി സംരക്ഷണ സമിതി മാണ്ഡ്യയില്‍ ഇന്ന് ബന്ദിന് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. റിവ്യൂ ഹര്‍ജി ഫയല്‍ ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് സര്‍ക്കാരിനോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് എംപി ജി മാഡെ ഗൗഡ പറഞ്ഞു. ജലസേചന വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി എംബി പട്ടീലുമായി ഫോണില്‍ ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടെന്നും കര്‍ണാടകയിലെ കര്‍ഷകരുടെ താല്‍പ്പര്യം സംരക്ഷിക്കണമെന്ന് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതായും ഗൗഡ പറഞ്ഞു. തമിഴ്‌നാടിന് വെള്ളം നല്‍കിയാല്‍ വലിയ പ്രത്യാഘാതം നേരിടേണ്ടി വരുമെന്ന് കര്‍ഷകരുടെ നേതാവ് മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്‍കി. ചമ്രാജ്‌നഗര്‍, മൈസൂരു, ഹുബ്ബലി, എന്നിവിടങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രതിഷേധം പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചിലയിടങ്ങളില്‍ തമിഴ്‌നാട് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ജയലളിതയുടെ കോലവും പോസ്റ്ററുകളും കത്തിച്ചു. മൈസൂരിലെ കെആര്‍എസ് ജലസംഭരണിക്കടുത്തേക്ക് മാര്‍ച്ച നടത്തിയ കര്‍ഷകരെ പൊലീസ് തടഞ്ഞു. ഈ മാസം 9ന് കര്‍ണാടകയില്‍ ബന്ദ് ആചരിക്കും.
കര്‍ണാടകയോട് ചേര്‍ന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ 40,000 ഏക്കര്‍ ഭൂമിയിലെ സാംബ കൃഷിക്കായി 50.52 ടി.എം.സി അടി വെള്ളം വിട്ടു നല്‍കണമെന്ന തമിഴ്‌നാടിന്റെ ഹര്‍ജിയിലാണ് സുപ്രീംകോടതി ഉത്തരവ്.
