Parmanand was wanted by police in three criminal cases registered against him on different charges including fraud, attempt to rape, attempt to murder and Information Technology Act. He is also accused of blackmail. Tuesday arrested controversial self-proclaimed godman Ram Shankar Tiwari alias Parmanand Maharaj alias Shakti Baba alias Tantrik Baba, for allegedly sexually exploitating women and blackmailing them after recording the act. Parmanand Maharaj (64) was arrested along with his follower and close associate Arvind Kumar Pathak from Mithai Deva Road in Deva police station area in Barabanki. They were produced before the court which sent them in judicial custody. Parmanand was wanted by police in three criminal cases registered against him on different charges including fraud, attempt to rape, attempt to murder and Information Technology Act. He is also accused of blackmail. SP, Barabanki, Abdul Hamid said the first case against Parmanand was lodged by police on May 12 after videos showing him exploiting women went viral. Later, two more cases were registered against him at Deva police station. Another case was filed against the “godman” two days ago, in which a woman had accused him of attempting to rape her at his ashram at Harai village in Barabanki. She also accused him of attempt to murder, said the SP, adding that the victim did not mention any specific date of the offences in her complaint. “While on the run, Parmanand moved the high court twice alleging police harassment and seeking a stay on arrest order. The court rejected his petition. In the second petition, Parmanand claimed he was innocent and as per court direction, we submitted our investigation report and evidences collected against him so far,” said the SP. Parmanand has nine more FIRs filed against him, but he was on bail in all those cases, the officer added. സ്ത്രീകളെ കബളിപ്പിച്ച് ലൈംഗികമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചു വന്ന വിവാദ ആള് ദൈവം ബാബ പരമാനന്ദ് അറസ്റ്റില്. കുട്ടികളുണ്ടാകാനുള്ള ചികിത്സയുടെ മറവിലാണ് ഇയാള് സ്ത്രീകളെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു വന്നത്. ലക്നൗവിലെ ബരാബാങ്കിയില് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്ന ആശ്രമത്തില് നിന്നുമാണ് ഇയാളെ പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്തത്. ആശ്രമത്തില് നടത്തിയ റെയ്ഡില് നിരവധി അശ്ലീല വീഡിയോകളും ചിത്രങ്ങളും അടങ്ങിയ സിഡി പൊലീസ് കണ്ടെടുത്തു. പരമാനന്ദിന്റെ സഹായി രാം ശങ്കര് ത്രിവാദിയും അറസ്റിലായിട്ടുണ്ട.

പരമാനന്ദ് ലൈംഗികമായി പീഡിപ്പിച്ച സ്ത്രീകള് നല്കിയ പരാതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലായിരുന്നു അറസ്റ്റ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചു വര്ഷങ്ങളായി ഇയാള് തങ്ങളെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു വരുന്നതായി സ്ത്രീകള് പറയുന്നു. വൈദ്യ പരിശോധനയ്ക്കു ശേഷം പരമാനന്ദിനെ കോടതിയില് ഹാജരാക്കി.
