MARAMON VENUE TO BE PLASTIC-FREE

MARAMON VENUE TO BE PLASTIC-FREE

The Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association (MTEA) has made elaborate arrangements to make the Maramon convention venue free of plastic. The century-old religious meet, which is billed Asia’s largest annual Christian congregation, will be held at its traditional venue on the riverbed of Pampa at Maramon, near Kozhencherry, from February 14 to 21. The annual meet is organised by MTEA, the missionary wing of the Mar Thoma Syrian church of Malabar.
According to MTEA general secretary Fr. George Varghese Punnackadu, there will be a total ban on plastic products at the meeting venue. The MTEA has prohibited even flex boards at the venue and the ban would be applicable to all commercial stalls, Fr. Punnackadu said.
