Caesar's wife must be above suspicion

സീസറിന്റെ ഭാര്യയും  സീതയും

The associates of public figures must not even be suspected of wrongdoing. (The ancient Roman Julius Caesar is supposed tohave said this when asked why he divorced his wife, Pompeia. Because she was suspected of some wrongdoing, he could notassociate with her anymore.) Jill: I don't think the mayor is trustworthy; his brother was charged with embezzlement. Jane: But thecharges were never proved. Jill: That doesn't matter. Caesar's wife must be above suspicion. When the newspapers reported the rumorthat the lieutenant governor had failed to pay his taxes, the governor forced him to resign, saying, "Caesar's wife must be abovesuspicion."

സീസറിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സംശയത്തിനു അതീതമായിരിക്കണം  എന്ന പ്രയോഗം . ഈ പ്രയോഗം  ജൂലിയസ് സീസറിന്റെ  ചരിത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ളതാണ് . രോമാസാമ്പ്രജ്യം  സീസറിന്റെ  രണ്ടാം ഭാര്യ പോംപിയയുടെ  ചാരിത്രത്വത്ത്തിൽ  സംശയം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ച്പ്പോൾ  ഇക്കാര്യത്ത്തിൽ തെളിവു ഇല്ലാത്തിരുന്നിട്ടും ഭാര്യയേ ഉപെക്ഷിക്കാൻ  തയാറായ  സീസർ പറഞ്ഞു " എൻറെ ഭാര്യ  സംശയത്തിനു പോലും  അതീതയായിരിക്കണം .

രാമായണത്തിലും  ഇതുപോലെയുള്ള സന്ദർഭം ഉണ്ട് . രാവണ നിഗ്രഹം കഴിഞ്ഞ് സീതയോടൊപ്പം അയോധ്യയിൽ മടങ്ങിയെത്തുന്ന  ശ്രീരാമന് സീതയുടെ ചാരിത്ര ശുദ്ധിയിൽ വിശ്വാസമുണ്ടായിട്ടും പ്രജകളിൽ ആര്ക്കും സംശയം ഉണ്ടാകാതിരിക്കാനാണ് സീതയുടെ അഗ്നീ പരീക്ഷക്ക് നിർദേശം നൽകുന്നത് .അഗ്നി പരീക്ഷ വിജയിച്ചിട്ടും വീണ്ടും നേരിയ സംശയം  ഉന്നയിച്ച  അലക്കുകാരന്റെ വാക്കുകളാണ്  സീതയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ  കാരണമായത്
