Preparations  for 103rd religious meet


Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Maha Mandalam presidentT.N. Upendranatha Kurup inaugurates the work on the pandal for the 103rd Cherukolpuzha Hindu religious meet on the sand bed of the Pampa at Cherukolpuzha, near Kozhencherry, on Sunday. The Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Maha Mandalam (HMM) on Sunday launched preparations for the 103rd annual Hindu religious meet at Cherukolpuzha, near Kozhencherry.T.N. Upendranatha Kurup, HMM president, inaugurated the work on the large thatched shed (pandal) at the convention venue, the Pampa river bed.The function began with the HMM leaders offering floral tributes at the Vidyadhiraja Smriti Mandapam on the banks of the Pampa.P.S. Nair, K.G. Sankaranarayana Pillai, HMM vice-presidents; M.P. Sasidharan, Nair, secretary;and Malethu Saraladevi, former MLA; were among those who attended the function.The annual religious meet will be held from February 1 to 8.

According to HMM sources, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already given consent to inaugurate the week-long meet on Februaary 1. A cultural meet, youth meet, women’s meet and religious teachers’ meet will also be held during the week-long annual religious convention, said Sathyan Nair, publicity convener. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the valeictory meet to be held on February 8. The meet will come to a close with the Mahasarvaiswarya-Puja led by Swami Poornamritananda Puri of Mata Amritanandamayi Madhom in the evening.
