AYPPALLOOR EDAN NAGAR VISITED THRISUR ZOO, PEECHI DAM AND MALAMPUZHA ECO TOURIST CENTER
Ayppalloor Eden Nagar Residence Association was conducted its 4th annual study tour on 11th October,2014 at Thrissur Zoo,Peechi Dam and Malampuzha Tourist Center.Thrissur Zoo  is a 13.5-acre (5.5 ha) zoo that opened in 1885 in the heart  of Trissur City.. It is one of the oldest zoos in the country, and is home to the wide variety of animals, reptiles, and birds. The zoo compound includes a natural history museum and an art museum that showcase the socio-cultural heritage of the region. The Thrissur Zoo is 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the Thrissur City center The zoo includes a Zoological Garden, Botanical Garden, Art Museum, and Natural History Museum in its compound.Wildlife at the Thrissur zoo includes tigers,lions,deers,sloth,bears,monkeys,hippopotamus,camels,cobras,kraits,vipers,rat snakes,pink flamingos,mithun of the north-eastern hills and lion-tailed macaques. There is also a special building which houses snakes
Peechi Dam is situated 22 km outside Thrissur city.. The dam was started as an irrigation project for the surrounding villages in Thrissur. At the same time, it catered the drinking water needs of the population of Thrissur City. It serves as an irrigation dam, reaching out to the paddy fields in and around Thrissur city. Built across the Manali River, the dam is a vast catchment area of nearly 3,200 acres with extensive botanical gardens and cascading fountains offer numerous inviting avenues for tourists. .Malampuzha Garden is a beautifully landscaped garden on the front side of the Malampuzha Dam. It is full of lush green lawns with well laid-out flower beds. There are pathways to watch and enjoy variety of fountains and marvelous sculptures, including the famous Yakshi sculpture created by Sri. Kanayi Kunhiraman. There is a canal flowing through the middle of the garden, which has 2 hanging bridges above it. The ropeway moves across the garden giving an unforgettable aerial view of the garden. Boating Facility is available in the Garden. The dam and the garden is illuminated at nights on Weekends and Public Holidays.There is a swimming pool in the Garden
The main attraction only around which the others are situated. Visitors can enter the top of the dam through the left side of the gardens and walk along the dam till the end. There is an exit near the wind-mill to enter back to the gardens. Nature lovers walk till the end of the dam to reach "Kava", a scenic spot full of wonderful species of flora and fauna at the catchment area of the dam.There is a ropeway running parallel to the Dam, which is first of its kind in South India. The ropeway gives a 20 minutes thrilling ride with an aerial view of the Malampuzha Gardens and the Dam. This 2000 ft long ropeway runs at a height of 60 feet from the ground. There are 64 rope cars, each with a capacity of 2 persons. The Ropeway operates from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and safety gadgets are provided. The ropeway, named "Udan Khatola", is operated by Usha Breco Ltd and ISO company  
The Snake Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre located outside the Malampuzha Gardens is a major attraction for tourists and snake lovers. Various poisonous and non-poisonous reptiles are exhibited in the Snake Park, but with utmost care of them. There are Pythons (മലമ്à´ªാà´®്à´ª്), Cobras (à´µെà´®്à´ªാà´²), Vipers (അണലി) and variety of other rarely found snakes.
A fresh-water aquarium, shaped like a giant fish, is situated outside the Malampuzha Gardens on the way to the Ropeway entrance. Visitors get inside the aquarium through the wide opened mouth of the fish. Though not having a large collection, various varieties of fishes and other marine specimen are exhibited. The aquarium is open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The aquarium is operated by the Kerala Governemt Fisheries Department, which also runs a fish culture in the reservoir.
Malck Garden is the first rock garden of South India. The most interesting feature of the rock garden is that the whole place is made of unwanted and broken pieces of bangles, tiles, used plastic cans, tins and other waste materials. The garden is a master work of sculptor Padmasree Neck Chand Saini of Chandigarh. His rock garden in Chandigarh is world famous and attracts thousands of tourists every year. The garden is illuminated with coloured lights on Weekends.
Edan Nagar Residence Association also conducted various completions for the childrens of Edan Nagar members Athul George Kurakar, Ajeena Alex and Shibin Raju won the cash award.
