PUNALUR HANGING BRIDGE

Punalur is a the second largest city in Kollam district and is situated on the banks of Kallada River. It is at the Kollam-Shencottai Road and 71 km north of Thiruvananthapuram. The Hanging/Suspension Bridge in Punalur town across Kallada River which is the only suspended-deck type bridge in south India. It was constructed by the British Engineers. Now the Bridge is protected only for historical interest.
