KERALA MEDICAL ENTRANCE BOYS SWEEP TOP 8 RANKS

ഒന്നാം റാങ്ക് ബേസിൽ കോശി സജീവിന് 

 Basil Koshi Sajiv from Ernakulam District topped this year's engineering entrance exam, when the boys swept all the top 8 ranks. Arun Ashokan of Muvattupuzha has come second. The results were announced on Thursday afternoon.Third and fourth rank were won by Abid Ali Khan and Muhammed Rahiz. Meanwhile, Nithin S R figured in the fifth place. It was all boys in the top eight ranks.In the SC list S Sneha won first rank and N Navin second. In the ST category V I Praseetha bagged the top rank and Bhavya came second.While 93897 students had appeared for the medical entrance exam, 1, 03 398 students had written the engineering entrance exam. There are seven government medical colleges, 14 self-financing colleges and one co-operative medical college. With the entry of Manchery and Kochi Medical college into the list government medical colleges, there will be 1100 government seats. There will be 908 vacancies after conceding seats to the government quota.

There are 1550 seats in the self-financing colleges. As per the current norms 775 seats of them will be available to those who are screened through entrance.The management and the government have to ink an agreement with regards to the number of seats and the fees structure. 50 out of the 100 seats in Pariyaram Co-Operative College will be allotted on the basis of merit. The rest will be awarded in the self-financing-model. There are 161 government and private engineering colleges in the state. While 12 of them are government colleges, 23 government-aided colleges.In the previous academic year, a large number of engineering seats were found to be lying vacant in the state. The poor quality of education available in the colleges continues to be a serious matter of concern. Meanwhile the inadequate infrastructure facilities in medical colleges and the shortage of expert faculties have come in for sharp criticism at the hands of Medical Council.
