KOTTARAKARA COLLEGE ALUMNI FAMILY ASSOCIATION VISITED WAYANADU BANASURA SAGAR DAM
Kottarkara Colege Alumni Family Association visited Wayanadu Banasura Sagar dam on 24th May, 2014. The team includes 50 members. The annual Alumni Family meet was held at Vayanadu Kuruva Island at 4 P.M. Prof. John Kurakar,Founder secretary of the Alumni Association presided. Mr. Sarasan Kottarakara welcomed the members. The Banasura Sagar dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia, impounds the waters of the Karamanathodu, a tributary of the Kabini river. The reservoir formed by the dam is dotted with tiny islands enveloped in thick foliage, and with the Banasura hill in the background, offers a magnificent view.
The Banasura Sagar dam with its massive earthen structure provided the fillip for adopting rammed earth architecture while building Banasura Hill Resort. Set at an altitude of 3200 feet in the mist-clad hills of Wayanad, Banasura is an ideal retreat for the traveler who looks for a more enriching experience than a mere vacation.Set on a sprawling 35 acre farm in the middle of a lush tropical forest, with exotic flora and fauna, gushing mountain streams and magnificent waterfalls, Banasura is a nature resort beyond compare.
