WORLD DRAMA DAY 2014
(MARCH-27)
World Theatre Day is celebrated every year on March 27. It was established in
1961 by the International Theatre InstituteMarch 27th has
been declared as World Drama Day to honor the dramatists world around.
Commemoration of World Drama Day 2014 will be held at Nelum Pokuna ahinda
Rajapaksha Hall on March 27th 2014 at 3.00 p.m. under the auspices
of Hon. T.B. Ekanayake , Minister of Culture and the Arts.
A special
lecture on “Drama and Performing Arts” will be delivered by a veteran dramatist
Mr. Prasannajith Abyesuriya , Senior lecturer in the University of Aesthetic
Education on this occasion. Steps have been taken to stage the Best stage drama
of the State Drama Festival 2014 by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the
State Panel of Drama of the Sri Lanka Arts council on the direction of the
Ministry of Culture and the Arts. Students who follow the subject of Drama and
performing Arts in schools are allowed to view this drama free of charge.
