RAVI VARMA AWARD FOR
K.V HARIDASAN
Artist
K.V. Haridasan has been selected for the Raja Ravi Varma Award for 2013
instituted by the State government.Minister for Cultural Affairs K.C. Joseph
said here on Thursday that Mr. Haridasan was chosen for his Brahmasutra series
of paintings.The award consisted of a purse of Rs.1.5 lakh, a citation, and a
statuette. He is among the most noted neo-tantric artists in the country, Mr.
Joseph said adding that the artist strongly believed that ‘tantra’ was an
integral part of Indian art. His works were a blend of the duality of man and
nature, he added.
The
jury included Culture Secretary Rani George, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi
Chairman K.A. Francis, sculptor Anila Jacob, Institute of Mural Painting
(Guruvayoor) Principal K.U. Krishnakumar, and artist Jeevanchi. The previous
recipient of the award was artist Yusuf Arakkal.
