NAREE PUJA PERFORMED AT CHAKKULATHUKAVU
The annual Naree puja was held with religious fervour at the
Chakkulathukavu Bhagavathy temple in Neerettupuram, near Thiruvalla, on Friday,20th
December,2013.Malayalam actor Manju Warrier was the chief guest at the
ceremony. Manikkuttan Namboodiri, priest
and temple administrator, was the chief celebrant of the ceremony, performed in
the presence of a large gathering of devotees.Ms. Warrier was garlanded and
seated on a specially made chair (‘peetom’) for the ritual. Mr. Namboodiri
washed her feet and offered flowers to her, before performing Aarati. Mr.
Namboodiri said the puja was being held upholding the Manusmriti verse
‘Wherever women are being worshiped, there will be glory and prosperity.’
P.N. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed
University, and Radhakrishnan Namboodiri, temple chief priest, attended the
function.A cultural meeting was held in the morning on the temple premises as
part of the celebrations.A dance performance by Ms. Warrier was the highlight
of the cultural programme in the evening.The annual temple festival will come
to a close with the Arat ceremony and Manjaneerattu on December 27.
