TRIBUTE
PAID TO USHA RAVI
Usha Ravi, wife of industrialist and film producer K.
Raveendranathan Nair, passed away at her house on Thursday,4th
October,2013. She was 72 and is survived by her husband, two sons, and a
daughter. She had been ailing for some time.Usha had a brief stint as a
playback singer and had earned fame for her song “Kanakapennu chembarathi” in
the film “Thambu” produced by her husband. She had also given her voice for
three other Malayalam film songs. She later moved to singing bhajans. Usha was
known in the cultural and spiritual circles of Kollam city. She had been
serving as the Kerala coordinator of Balavikas, the children’s wing of the
Sathya Sai Baba Seva Samithi.
People from all walks of life had arrived at her house at
Kochupilamoodu here to pay their last respects. Among them were film maker
Adoor Gopalakrishnan, sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, actor Suresh Gopi, N.
Peethambara Kurup, MP, former Minister M.A. Baby, and Mayor Prasanna Earnest.The
funeral was held at the Polayathodu public crematorium at 4 p.m.-
