Fisheries and Excise Minister K. Babu on Monday inaugurated the reception accorded to the vehicle procession carrying the statue of the former Chief Minister R. Sankar from Mangalore to Thiruvananthapuram.The Minister said the former Chief Minister had championed the cause of the downtrodden and backward sections of society. He was being given a befitting tribute, though belated, for his services to society, the Minister said.
District Congress Committee (DCC) president K. Surendran presided over the function. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) general secretaries P. Ramakrishnan, Suma Balakrishnan and V.A. Narayanan; party leaders Satyan Vandichal, Martin George, K. Pramod and Munderi Gangadharan; were among those present at the function.
Jatha leader Saratchandra Prasad also spoke. The statue will be installed in Thiruvananthapuram on September 7.Reception accorded to procession carrying the former Chief Minister’s statue.
