fighter, teacher and former KPCC member V Parukutty Amma died On 19th September,2013,Thursday.
She was 90. Parukutty died of old age-related illness at a private hospital.
Cremation was held at Mavoor road crematorium at 10 am on Friday.
She was member of Mathrubhumi editorial board. She acted as Mathematics teacher in BEM Girls school for 23 years. She later resigned and joined Mathrubhumi as librarian. Daughter of Achuthan Nair, Nechooli and Lakshmi Kutty Amma from Malappuram, she secured BA and BEd from Madras Christian College and later became active in politics. She withdrew from active politics in 1975. She acted as DCC and KPCC member.
During the visits of late leaders Jawaharlal Nehru, V K Krishna Menon and Indira Gandhi to Kerala, she was assigned to translate their speeches into Malayalam. She had also written biographies of KP Kesavamenon, KA Damodaramenon and GN Pillai. She later acted as superintendent of govt orphanage and magistrate in a juvenile home.
