LPG SUBSIDY SCHEME KICK

The scheme of passing LPG subsidy under the Direct Benefit
Transfer (DBT) scheme to the bank accounts of the consumers in
Kerala will begin Sunday,1st September,2013.The piloting
scheme started in two districts, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad, on June first this
year proved successful and implementation of the scheme in all districts from
September 1st had been announced earlier by the Central Petroleum Ministry.Consumers
will receive Rs 435 as subsidy for each cylinder through their bank accounts in
advance. Consumers have to link their Aadhar number (UID) with bank account to
avail the subsidy. Consumer are required to submit their UID number
to their respective gas agencies before November 30 to get DBT facility.
Each
consumer will have to pay full amount at market price for each cylinder their
after.According to official figures 80 per cent of the population in the state
has UID number and 40 per cent has Aadhar card.Government has issued three
months grace period for those who yet to register for Aadhar card or receive
UID number. From December 1 the subsidy will be sent only through bank
accounts.
