KOTTARAKARA FRIENDS ASSOCIATION ARTS MEET AT KODAIKANAL LAKE RESORT
           Kottarakara Friends association Annual meet was on 17thSeptember to 20the September at Kodaikanal Lake resort. The Association conducted various Arts competions and comic activities. Prof. John Kurakar , President of the Kerala Kavya Kala Sahithy inaugurated the Arts competition. Mr. Sarasan Kottarakara presided, Mr. Rajan Mathew, Mr. Monachan, Mr. Mamachan, Mr. Jacob, Mr. M.R Rajan Malayilazhikom also spoke on the occasion.Anjana won the Merit Award. Alan Jacob won Kala Prathibha. Prof. John Kurakar distributed awards and prizes.Kodai Lake is a manmade lake located in the Kodaikanal city in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu, India. Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the then Collector of Madurai, was instrumental in creating the lake in 1863, amidst the Kodaikanal town which was developed by the British and early missionaries from USA. The lake is said to be Kodaikanal's most popular geographic landmark and tourist attraction.Over the years a boat club, boathouse and boat service (with rowing boats and pedalling boats and a public ferry) for the public and tourists has become fully functional and is of aesthetic significance for tourism. Boat Pageant and Flower Shows are a regular feature in the summer season which attracts tourists.[
This is a star shaped very glamorous place that has been the most preferred touring spot for the herds of travelers coming to Kodaikanal. This lake offers number of delight to the tourists in number of ways. Tourists can have the delight of enjoying bicycling or horse riding in accordance to their comfort, skill and liking. Cycles and horses are availed at very affordable rates. Different varieties of aqua fauna such as macrophytes, larve of distinctive insects and the kind can be watched at and studied about. Another specialty of this region lies in the rare flowers of Kurinji blooming once within span of 12 years. Also clusters of trees bearing plantains and plums can be spotted. There are also provisions for delighting boat riding of various kinds and also periodically boat pageant and flower shows are organized.
