TRIBUTE PAID TO LALGUDI JAYARAMAN- NOTED VIOLINIST
Lalgudi Jayaraman, in 2007.
Noted violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman passed away on 22nd April,2013,Monday in Chennai. He was 82 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter. His son Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and daughter GJR Vijayalakshmi are also violinists.Hailing from Lalgudi in Tiruchi district, Mr. Jayaraman played for great maestros, including Musiri Subramania Iyer, M.M. Dandapani Desikar, G. N. Balasubramaniam, Madurai Mani Iyer, Ramnad Krishnan, Madurai S. Somasundaram and Maharajapuram Santhanam.
He never played for women artistes, as his father late V.R. Gopala Iyer was against this idea.Though he evolved a style of his own popularly known as Lalgudi Bani, he never deviated from the role of an accompanying artist when he played for these great masters. He was not keeping well for quite sometime after he had a stroke.
