HEALTH DEPARTMENT WARNS AGAINST JAUNDICE AND MALARIA

HEALTH DEPARTMENT WARNS AGAINST JAUNDICE AND MALARIA
Migrant workers employed in construction sector in the district are hit by malaria and jaundice. Till date the health department has confirmed 18 people to be affected with malaria and among them 16 are migrant labourers. By mid-March, 11 people were affected with the disease and till April 7 more were infected. They are working in Cyber Park in Nellikode. Five are from Bihar, Orissa, UP and West Bengal and other two are Malayalees who reside with them. As per the central government statistics, yearly around 4 lakh people are affected by Malaria in Orissa. So infected people from there are spreading the disease here. When they come to Kerala, no sufficient health checks are done.
