Roses, Bonsais to be major
attractions of flower show
THE KOLLAM FLOWER FROM FRIDAY (23rd,
February, 2013). Over 400 varieties of roses and international award winning
bonsai trees will be the major attractions of the flower show set to begin on
the Ashramam Guest House compound from Friday.The floral extravaganza, which
will continue till March 3, is being organised by the Agri Horticultural and
Zoological Society in cooperation with the district administration, Kollam
Corporation, District Panchayat and the DTPC.
Organisers told a press meet here on
Tuesday that the flower show features potted plants and cut flowers, including
varieties of orchids, asters, balsam, dahlia, petunia, marigold and ornamental
plants.Exhibition of fruits, agricultural produces and ornamental fishes would
also be held as part of the show.An artificial forest arranged in the stall of
the Forest Department will be another attraction of the event. Various
competitions will be organised for the visitors. A food fest is also being
planned for the event.Actress Sukumari will inaugurate the show on Friday. A
‘floral rally’ will be held on Friday evening to herald the event.
