PARAVOOR SEXUAL ASSULT

The Ernakulam II sessions court (Special court) announced the verdict in the second case registered in connection with the Paravoor sexual assualt case. The first accused, the girl's father Sudheer, 3rd accused cinema producer Janata Vijayan were given 7 years imprisonment and were slapped a fine of Rs 25,000, the 4th and 5th accused Varkala resort owner Unnikrishnan and hardware shop owner Sugunan were awarded 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 75,000.The court let off mother Zubaida, second accused and cinema production executive Biju who is the sixth accused. 

There are 52 cases registered in relation to the Paravoor sexual assault case. The court announced the judgement in the second case. In the first case, the victim's father Sudheer was given life sentence by the court. In the second case, mother Zubaida, cinema producer Janata Vijayan, Varkala resort owner Unnikrishnan, hardware shop owner Sugunan and cinema production executive Biju are the other accused.The case relates to sexually abusing a girl at a private resort in Varkala in 2010 February. The prosecution has sought explanation from 30 persons. P G Anil Kumar was the judge. Advocates Mohan Menon, Ayub Khan on behalf of the prosecution and Babu S Nair, M R Madhu argued on behalf of the opponent.

The father of the minor girl had first sexually harassed her in their home in 2009 April when there was nobody present in the house. The father had taken the girl to several places and she was sexually abused by many inside and outside Kerala. The prosecution had found clear evidence of sexual harassment.So far, chargesheets were filed in 16 cases. More than 30 cases are still pending. In total, the accused list in all cases number 150. Many are still absconding.

The father had taken pictures of his naked girl in mobile and had threatened of killing the girl if she did not yield to others wishes. Fearing her life, the girl had not disclosed this to anybody till 2011.
