Construction work for the sprawling Global Village in Kochi, which promises to be India's largest trade fair and focal point of the South Indian Bank Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) this season, is all set to begin.Featuring nearly 400 stalls across seven pavilions spread over 24 acres of land at the Lulu Convention Centre premises on Bolgatty Island off the, the Global Village will feature products, art forms, cultures and traditions from around the world, Kerala Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar said here today.
It will open on December 22 with a spectacular fireworks display and a series of colorful cultural programs and entertainment events that will go on until the trade fair closes on January 9. 'One consistent demand that we have heard over the last five seasons of GKSF is the need for one venue which can act as a focal point for the entire festival. It is in answer to this that we are setting up the Global Village as part of the sixth season of GKSF,' he said.
