Inaugurating the three-day cultural
extravaganza, Minister for Finance and Law K. M. Mani stressed the need for
students to spread their wings into extra curricular activities for all-round
development of their personalities Artistic and cultural activities play an
integral part in the modern educational process as it adds to that aspecof
education which contributes to the internal fulfilment of the student, he said.
“A degree might fetch you a job, but if you want to move further in life, it
demands desire and ability to make use of the opportunities,” he said. The
Minister also stressed the role of art enthusiasts in encouraging artists.K.C.
Joseph, Minister for Culture, inaugurating the function, said that art forms
were closely linked to the spiritual life of society and temples were the rich
repositories of art and culture forms in the State. The places of worship of
other communities too have contributed to the development of cultural heritage,
he said.
Mr. Joseph said the school cultural
festival, whether it was that of the State syllabus schools or those belonging
to other streams, had contributed immensely in keeping the flame of our
heritage lit.Bishop Joseph Kallarangattu, in his benediction, stressed the
links between art and religion.
