BEAUTIFUL PLACE OF WAYANADU
(UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE)

Wayanad district stands on the southern tip of the Deccan plateau and its chief glory is the majestic rugged terrain of the Western Ghats, with lofty ridges interspersed with dense forest, tangled jungles and deep valleys. Banasura Sagar Dam is approximately 25km towards the north west of Kalpetta. It is considered to be the largest earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia. The dam extends to a wide area with crystal clear waters. Undisturbed and engulfed amidst the hills, Bansura Sagar Dam is an absolute beauty. During monsoons the water in the Banasura Sagar Dam reaches its highest level and the landscape looks greener. The various shades of fresh green simply stuns you. And the rain-bearing clouds formed a classic backdrop. For the holidaying family and their children, there is the option of taking a speed boat ride on the dam waters and encircling the various islands on its way. Wayanad from Kozhikode you have to pass through Thamarasseri Churam. Soochippara has the popular sentinel rock waterfalls in Wayanad Kalpetta. At Soochippara there are stretches of waterfalls which are at high altitudes ranging from 100 to 300 feet height. At Soochippara the Sentinel Waterfalls is really a great treat to the sightseeing guests.
