ദുരിതാശ്വാസ  കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്‍  തുടങ്ങി 

വൃദ്ധരെയും രോഗികളെയും  സുരക്ഷിത  മേഖലകളില്‍ 

സര്‍വതും  വെള്ളത്തില്‍ 

ജനം ദുരിതാശ്വാസ  സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ 

വെള്ളം-വെള്ളം 

കുഞ്ഞേ വരു

എന്തെങ്കിലും കിട്ടുമോ 

ജീവന്‍ മാത്രം ബാക്കി 

ആസ്സാമില്‍ വെള്ളപൊക്കം

ആസ്സാം മഴയില്‍ മുങ്ങുന്നു. മരണം അറുപത് കഴിഞ്ഞു. വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കം മൂലം 2084 ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലെ 10 ലക്ഷത്തിലേറെപ്പേര്‍ വീടൊഴിഞ്ഞു. റെയില്‍വേ ലൈനുകളും വൈദ്യുതിയും താറുമാറായിട്ടുണ്ട്. 173 ദുരിതാശ്വാസക്യാമ്പുകള്‍ തുറവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. 2004-ന് ശേഷമുള്ള ഏറ്റവും വലിയ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കമാണിതെന്ന് കാലാവസ്ഥനിരീക്ഷകര്‍ വിലയിരുത്തുന്നു.
With the current spell of floods and landslips claiming 77 lives in Assam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are scheduled to visit the affected areas on Monday(2nd July,2012).An official said 61 people died in floods and 16 in landslips. The report said all the 27 districts have been affected by floods while landslides occurred in three districts.It said the Brahmaputra and the Kapili rivers were flowing above danger level at various places.

Dr. Singh and Ms. Gandhi are expected to reach Jorhat by a special flight and conduct an aerial survey of Majuli island, which has suffered serious damage in the flood.
