Diabetes patients can look forward to Pramehoushadhi tablets, an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine from Oushadhi, in few months time.The medicine, made by the public sector company, was previously available in powder form. It supplied medicines to government Ayurveda hospitals and dispensaries.There had been huge demand for Ayurveda diabetic tablets. It will be available in the market soon, Oushadi Chairman Johny Nellur said at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.The company will jointly work with the Department of Forests to sell its Ayurvedic products through the Vanasree outlets.Oushadi would open a new hospital in Thrissur. A new plant, being set up at Kutanallor, Thrissur, with financial aid from the Union government, would be completed this year.

Measures had been taken to distribute medicines in all the Ayurveda dispensaries under the Department of Indian Systems of Medicines in a time-bound manner.The company would begin distribution centres in five districts, namely, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam in association with the Forest Department. Pathanapuram. A medicine for liver, being developed in association with the Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, Palode, would be made available in the market soon, Anita Jacob, Director, Department of Indian Systems of Medicines, said.
