BLACK DAY IN MEDICAL COLLEGE

Doctors and students of the Kottayam Medical College observed Black Day on Saturday 2nd June,2012,protesting against the attack of a house surgeon at the Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute in Thrissur. Tinku Edwina, a fourth year MBBS student of the college, was allegedly attacked by a patient on Friday1st June.
The dharna that was conducted at the premises of the Kottayam Medical College was inaugurated by the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association president Shahjahan P.S. Association office-bearers Ann George and Sadarudeen Ahmed spoke on the occasion. The demands put forth by the agitators included measures for ensuring the safety of the medical community, deploying sufficient number of police personnel and security guards at hospitals, and implementing legislations to prevent untoward incidents in healthcare institutions.
