STATE LIBRARY COUNCIL AWARDS-2012
The Kerala
State Library Council awards for 2010 will be presented by Speaker G. Karthikeyan
at Velloor, Payyannur,, on May 23 2012. The EMS Award for the best library has
been won by Velloor Jawahar Library. The Kulappuram library in Kannur has been
chosen for the N.E. Balaram award for the best library functioning in a
backward area. The D.C. Award for the best village library has been won by the
Madikkai public library in Kasaragod. Sanmargadayini library at Chanappara,
Kollam, will receive the Samadhanam Parameshwaran award for excellence in
social and cultural feats. Navodaya library of Kasaragod has been chosen for
the P. Raveendran award for best children's library. Writer M.K. Sanoo will be
presented a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and citation for his contributions as a
library worker, teacher, critic and biographer.
C.T. Krishnan
of Palakkad has been selected for the P.N. Panikkar award for the best library
worker. A writers' meet in association with the award function will be held at
Velloor Jawahar Library on May 20. It will be will inaugurated by writer T.
Padmanabhan and attended by nearly 200 writers in the district. Lyricist
Kaithapram Damodrana Namboodiri will be the chief guest at the function.
