UMBRELLA FORUM-“KERALA PEOPLE’S FRONT” FOR BACKWARD COMMUNITIES

UMBRELLA FORUM-“KERALA PEOPLE’S FRONT” FOR BACKWARD COMMUNITIES
Announcing the decision to launch the organisation after participating in a meeting of leaders of various backward communities, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan said that the interests of backward communities that constituted nearly 40 per cent of the total population of the State had always been neglected by the political parties and other social organisations. Such parties had always adopted a passive stance mainly due to the fact that the backward communities had remained disorganised. The newly formed organisation would assist these communities in gaining access to employment, land, money, power and education of high standards, he said. He added that the other goals of the organisation would be to achieve reservation in the private sector and the implementation of the second land reform in the State.
Mr. Natesan also said that the formation of the front would counter the increased role that communal forces had been playing in the political arena of the State. (backward communities,)
