MISSILES ARE WEAPONS OF PEACE Tessy Thomas

MISSILES ARE WEAPONS OF PEACE
      Tessy Thomas
It was a system of immensely great magnitude. We had to deal with a completely new technology, larger motors and advanced avionics.  We had to integrate this into the new missile system of 5000-km range. We also had to get the new designs including that of the rocket. Everything was new as far as we're concerned. The electronics and the navigation system we've developed are world class. Also the magnitude of the effort we'd put together over the last three years for its success. About the restraint in celebrating the success in the light of arms race among nations:

I'm not the right person to comment on the aspects of arms race. As far as our celebration of strategic supremacy is concerned, it's only one way of looking at it. We were asked to develop a national deterrent as part of a government policy and we did it, that's all. Another way of seeing it is that these are weapons of peace. If you are powerful enough and are committed to 'no-first-strike'. There is no harm done to anybody. And we always stand by 'no-first-strike'.Being an inspiring model for the younger generation:I never underestimate our younger generation. I think they are far more superior to us. When they grow up to shoulder this kind of responsibilities, I am sure they will be doing exceedingly well than us. Besides, in the present world they have the advantage of the information revolution. In our times, text books were the only source of knowledge.
