MALAYALAM WIKIPEDIA
The first ever Wikipedia conference for an Indic language is being organised by the Malayalam Wikipedia community here on April 28 and 29.The programme ‘Wiki Sangamothsavam' will be inaugurated by V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, vice-chairman of the Kerala Council for Science, Technology, and Environment. Conference chairman N. Jayadevan and convener Kannan Shanmugham said over 200 people would participate in the conference.The Malayalam Wikipedia, the Malayalam version of Wikipedia, has over 23,000 articles.
The event seeks to celebrate the achievements of the Malayalam Wikipedia community, plan new projects, and welcome more Malayalis to the community. e-Malayalam, free and open knowledge, and copyright and cyber freedom are the highlights of the conference. The conference comprises 30 sessions, including one on how teachers can use Wikipedia and another on improving articles on Kerala's history and literature. There is also a workshop for the public on learning how to write on the Malayalam Wikipedia.
