PROTECT HISTORICAL MONUMENTS IN BIJAPUR President of the Arya Trust, Hubli, H.G. Daddi along with members of the trust submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Shivayogi Kalasad on Friday demanding steps to preserve heritage sites in Bijapur.
Bijapur has 94 nationality protected monuments, they said, and added that they were under threat owing to urbanisation. Nearly 400-year-old Adil Shahi monuments were being encroached upon, they said. They requested Mr. Kalasad to conduct a fresh survey to know the status of these protected monuments, check disfiguring and unauthorised altering of monuments, construct a compound wall around these monuments and post security guards at each monument.
