DR. YUHANON MAR DIOSCOROS
His Grace was born in Kallarackal Kaleelil family, Kundara on 28th May 1964 as the son of Late Mr. P. T. Mathunny Panicker & Late Mrs. Kunjamma Panicker. He is a member of St. Thomas Orthodox Valiyapally, Kundara. He obtained his B.Sc degree from Kerala University (1984), theological diploma (GST) from Orthodox Seminary, Kottayam, Bachelor of Divinity (B.D) from Serampore University (1988), Master of Theology (1991) and Doctor of Theology (1995) from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. He also holds a certificate in Pastoral Counselling from Glasgow University, Scotland (1997). Ordained as Sub-deacon on 13th June 1987; Deacon on 15th May 1989 and Priest on 3rd June 1989 by the late H.G. Geevarghese Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan of Trivandrum Diocese. Served as Professor and Registrar of the Holy Trinity Theological College, Addis Ababa of the Ethiopean Orthodox Church; Professor, Warden, and Dean of Studies in the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam; Professor of Theology in F.F.R.R.C Kottayam; Registrar of Divyabodhanam- Laity theological Training Programme of the Orthodox Church; Chief Editor of Malankara Sabha Monthly and Member of Dialogue Commission between Malankara Orthodox Church and Roman Catholic Church. His Grace have authored five books and numerous articles: Professed as Ramban on December 4, 2008 at Parumala Seminary and consecrated as Metropolitan (by the name Yuhanon Mar Diascoros) on February 19, 2009 at Puthupally St. George Valiyapally. Assumed charge of Madras Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church on 31st March 2009.
