DEMANDING”NOOKUKOOLI” WOULD AMOUNT TO BOOKING CASE FOR THEFT
Police said that if any person demands nokkukooli, a case relating to theft would be registered against them. The police would also give protection to public and organizations from those who demand nookukooli. DGP issued a circular regarding this on Monday,26th March,2012.

The state government has taken this step in the wake of the Kerala HC order which said nokkukooli was invasion of human rights. The circular states that if any complaint on nokkukooli was registered, a policeman, not less then the rank of a sub inspector, would reach the spot and can book a case on their own against the person demanding it. Case can also be registered on charges of theft, threatening and illegal group formation. If there are reports against persons mentally torturing public or organisations, charges of theft would be registered, the circular says.If members of registered trade unions are also involved in this, it would be informed to the labour officer apart from registering a case.Every month a report on nookukooli-related cases must be given to district police superintendent. The district police officer would send this to the police headquarters.
