C.K CHANDRAPPAN PASSED AWAY




 C.K CHANDRAPPAN PASSEDAWAY

CPI state secretary C.K. Chandrappan passed away  at the KIMS hospital Thursday22nd March,2012.He was undergoing treatment for Cancer. He was 76. He was admitted to  hospital on Monday and was not reacting to medicines. He was under treatment for cancer for long time.

Though he was under treatment at KIMS for a couple of days he developed chest infections on Wednesday and his end came at 12.10 noon. Senior party leaders have rushed to KIMS along with his family members.He was active at the CPI state conference held last month and for campaigning in Piravom. He was admitted to the hospital during campaigning when his health condition worsened. Born in 1936, he also acted as chairman of KTDC and vice chairman of Kerafed. His last rites would be held at Alappuzha Valiya Chudukadu crematorium on Friday at 6 pm. He was a member of the Lok Sabha representing the Thrissur (Lok Sabha constituency) of Kerala from 1977 to 1980 and from 2004 to 2010. Chandrappan served as Member of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala from 1991 to 1996 representing the Chertala Assembly Constituency.

His father, C.K. Kumara Panikker, was a famous leader of CPI and was known as Vayalar Stalin. Chandrappan is married to Bulu Roy Chodhary, a political activist from West Bengal.He was adjudged the top performer by the National Social Watch, an NGO. However he could not be re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha. C K Chandrappan is currently the national president of KISAN SABHA.
