PETTA THULLAL-2012
The ‘petta thullal’ (ceremonial mass dance) by the Ambalapuzha and Alangad teams. One the high points of the makravilakku period of the Sabariamala pilgrimage season will be held on Thursday, January 12. The petta thulla will be preceded by Erumeli Chandanakkudam procession by the local Jama at will be held on Wednesday, making the township one of the finest example of communal harmony. The malisa procession prior to the ‘chandankkudom’ will commence by 2 pm on Wednesday from Nainar Mosque (Vavar palli) and return by the evening after passing through the town and its rural suburbs when the Chandanakkudom procession begins by 9 pm.. The procession will received at the Petta junction by the government representatives, trading community, representatives of various other organizations. The procession will pass through Charala, Nerchapara, Aamakkunnu, Valiambalam route and return to the Nainar mosque in early hours of Thursday.
The 300 strong team from Ambalapuzha led by their ‘samoha periyon’ will arrive on Wednesday after their long trek. They will commence their ceremonial dance from the Sree Dharma Sastha Temple (cheriyambalam) and move to the Nainar mosque to pay obeisance Vavar, the Muslim lieutenant of Sree Ayyappa. Traditionally, they would commence their dance after sighting the ‘krishna parunthu’ on the skies. The would then dance their way to Sree Dharma Sastha Temple (Valiambalam). The Alangad team will commence their dance in the after noon from the cheriambalam to move directly to Valiambalam. Their dance begins after sighting the star in the after noon skies. After poojas, both the parties would dance their way through the forest trail to Pamba to participate in the Pamba Vilakku and Pamba Sadya and from there to Sannidhanam to participate in the Makarajyothi Darshan.
