NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CULTURAL STUDIES AT MARTHOMA COLLEGE THIRUVALLA

Department of English at Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla, will be organising a University Grants Commissin-sponsored two-day national seminar on cultural studies on January 16 and 17. Dr Elizabeth J. Thomas, head of the department of English at MTC, said the Metropolitan of Mar Thoma Chruch, Joseph Mar Thoma, would inaugurate the seminar at a function to be held at the college auditorium on Monday ,16^th January,2012,forenoon. Prof Kurien john, college principal, will preside over the inaugural session.

Dr M.V.Narayanan of Department of English, Calicut University, will deliver the keynote address. Dr A.P.John, former principal of MTC, Raju Abraham Vennikkulam, MTC treasurer and Prof Annie Varghese, programme co-ordinator, will also address the inaugural function. Prof K.Narayana Cahandran of School of Humanities at University of Hyderabad, will deliver a talk on `culture as anarchy: Strangers in cultural studies’’ at 2 pm on Monday.
