KATHAKALI DEMONSTRATION HELD FOR 

SCHOOL STUDENTS

As many as 500 children attended the Kathakali workshop for lower and upper primary school children held as part of the four-day Kathakali fest, organized by Pathanamthitta District Kathakali Club at Cherukolpuzha near Kozhencherry on Thrusday5 th January, 2012. V. Kaladharan, public relations officer of the Kalamandalam deemed university, inaugurated the workshop. Fact Mohan, renowned Kathakali artiste, staged the demonstration and the narration was done by Meenadom Krishnan. Zacharia Mathew, club vice-president, presided the function. Kalamandalam Surendran, Kalamandalam Jayaprakash, Kalamandalam Ullas, Kalamandalam Arun, Kalabharati Unnikrishnan and Kalabharati Jayasankar took part in the Kathakali staged as part of the demonstration. Another workshop led by the Kathakali percussionist, Mankulam Krishnan Namboodiri, was held in the afternoon. A Kathakali on `Daksha-yagom’ was staged, later, in the evening. The four-day fest will come to a close on Saturday. Mr Raju Abraham, MLA, will inaugurate the valedictory function, said Mr Johnson Mathew, convener.
