ENGINEERING STUDENT FROM KERALA ATTACKED ON TAIN
An engineering student from Kerala studying in Tamil Nadu was brutally attacked on a train ound for Kerala allegedly by a gang of Malayalee students from the Salem Engineering College on Saturday,14th January,2012.. The victim Geevarghese John (19), a fourth semester student of Jnanamani Engineering College, Salem, has now been admitted to Kochi specialist’s hospital, with deep wounds all over his body, inflicted with a sharp weapon. Over 50 stitches were required on the body of the student. Geevarghese said he was confronted by the senior-level students on the general compartment of Chennai Mail on Friday night as the train left the Salem station.
The gang demanded cash and ATM cards. When Geevarghese resisted, he was attacked with iron rods and their ears were pierced. Geevarghese was pushed out of the train at Erode station. Though he was admitted to the government hospital there with the help of the station master, his relatives later arrived and took him on Monday to the Kochi hospital.
