YOUTH CONGRESS ACTIVISTS TAKE CONTROL OF MULLAPERIYAR DAM-SHUTTERS

Hundreds of Youth Congress (YC) activists today,3^rd December,2011, barged into the premises of dam-shutters at Thekkadi where water was diverted to Tamil Nadu. Though the police resorted to lathicharge, the agitating YC activists managed to encroach into the premises of dam-shutters and hoisted the party flag on top of the shutters.The agitators demanded construction of a new-dam and bringing down water-level of the Mullaperiyar dam to 120 ft immediately.Later, the YC activists took the control of the dam-shutters and sit on dharna, prevailing tension in the area.
