SUPREME COURT APPOINTED 

EMPOWERED COMMITTEE VISIT MULLAPERIYAR AND IDUKKI

Members of the Supreme Court-appointed Empowered Committee on Friday,23^rd December,2011, visited the Idukki, Kulamavu and Cheruthoni dams. The visit comes following widespread rumours expressed over the safety of the dam.CD Thatte and KK Mehta, members of the panel, visited the dams. They first visited the Pambala dam at Lower Periyar. Later they visited Idukki, Kulamavu and the Cheruthoni dams. The team will visit the Mullaperiyar dam on Saturday,24^th December.The visit by EC members assume significance in the wake of recurring tremors experienced in the vicinity of the dam.
