RS.200-CRORE FROM CENTRE FOR
 RURAL ROADS
 The Centre on Tuesday ,20th December,2011,released an additional Rs.200 crore to Kerala under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a Central scheme for building rural roads“I am happy to inform you that my Ministry has released an amount of Rs.200 crore to your State towards part payment of first instalment of Phase VII under PMGSY pending audit report and final utilisation certificate for the year 2010-11, maintenance certificate, etc.,” Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said in a letter to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.The Minister asked the State to submit audit report and final utilisation certificate for the year 2010-11 for the programme as well as administrative funds and revised maintenance certificate for the year incorporating 100 per cent of the maintenance funds which was due for 2010-11 with the State Rural Roads Development Agency (SRRDA).
Mr. Ramesh also asked the State to submit maintenance certificate for the year 2011-12 after credit of balance of 50 per cent of the maintenance funds (amounting to Rs.217.75 lakh) which is due for 2011-12 with the SRRDA by January 31, 2012. Kerala had placed an additional demand of Rs.204 crore over and above Rs.488 crore released so far. Last week, the Union Minister had informed Rajya Sabha that the Centre had sanctioned Rs.975 crore to the State over the last 11 years under the scheme for rural road connectivity to 435 locations
